My Desk (and a bonus)
Diana took the idea from
Avitable who grabbed it from
Sheila WHO STARTED ALL THIS ROT ABOUT WHAT YOUR DESK LOOKS LIKE.
So here's mine. It isn't always this neat... but mostly it is. Unless I'm looking stuff up and then there's usually a pile of books and stuff on the sliding thing to my right. And once in a while it stays like that for a few days but then the Mrs will hear me say "I have just GOT to straighten up that damn office!"
So here's the desk, and then a bonus...

The next picture is what is on the other side of the room. It is two resin-cast ships (the
Maine and the
Olympia) that I painted and built from kits that were really expensive (too expensive). They are the kind of models curators use in museum displays and they're around to buy but they're not very common. I have one more to build but I've been lagging on it big time.
You will note that these were two ships from the era of the Spanish-American War, which is also the subject of the books and the photograph of TR. Yes ok... I'm a buff on that period. Ask me anything.

Pretty boring. But I couldn't LIVE in the squalor that I have seen in this round of photos. Oh my gawd no.

Yep, you're right, that desk is boring, but I love the ships! Oh, and I also like the border paper.

geeky - Heh. I picked it out.
dave - Can I get back to you on that?
sheila - It can get bad. You all just caught me in a good cycle.

Oh dear me. I wish I had a way of conveying the utter chaos that is my home office. Yours looks pretty tame.

(Uhm, just a note to let you know that I am not a complete moron, and just caught my You're/Your typo. I'm obviously just a smidge of a moron for not catching it until now. Thank you. I'll be on my way...)

Is that a picture of Taft?

Very orderly. Most untrustworthy.
Also: that chair looks a bit modern. I thought of you as more shabby-chic, perhaps a wingback or something.

Of COURSE you're a buff on that era. Wasn't TR prez when you were born? ;)

ville - Let's see it.
sheila - well, here's a time when you should have not mentioned it. Duh...
avi - Yeah. Taft. Theodore Taft.
kal - Orderly and untrustworthy are two of my best things.
manic - She turns on me. Everything I've done for you and you turn on me. He was the first one i voted for, thank you very much.

Yours is very slick and clean...I like it!
God, if YOU and DAVE and AVI all did this, I guess I will too. When people who usually shy away from memes start doing them, they must be okay ;).

Don't you mean "Theodore Delano Taft?"
I always thought this history stuff would be a lot simpler if Franklin and Teddy were one person...
I'm trying to remember if that's the same photo I saw in the Menger Hotel Bar San Antonio, where The Rough Riders were recruited. Any "Theodore Taft" fan would love the place.

I may be squalor-ish when it comes to my office "management", but I'm damn good at keeping my recipes in order. I made up a 4 x 6 recipe card for your Onion Bakers. They just sound so yummy!

I will do that !!! ;-)
P.S. I love the "portrait". :-)

For some reason, in the thumbnail, it looked like Taft.
And yes, keeping your passwords in a book is such a bad idea. You should just read a book on linking or loci as a memory tool and remember all of them.

No, no, no to the passwords written down. Within an arm's length of the computer. For shame, RW. You don't even make up for it with that disgustingly neat desk. No, indeed.
You do make up for it, however, with the cigar cutter and catalog (I notice that THEY aren't sharing the same space, but it must say something about your persona). Because that's cool.
